He had to collect money for the Sinn Féin, the political party of the Republicans. Then, he was cauhgt with a rifle for killing British soldier. For the third time, he was seen launching motor bombs.
He stood in the H Bocks, the famous jail of Belfast. He was set free in 1998, the date of the Green Friday Agreemant. The political forces of Northern Ireland decided to find a political solution. In 2005, he is the man reading the IRA’s speach, telling that the group stopped the violent action.
Since then, Séanna Wlash is involved in the political battle. He works for the Sinn Féin and for Coiste, an association that organizes Belfast political tour. « My purpose remains the same. Segregated schools in Northern Ireland
In Northern Ireland, 90% of pupils go to either Catholic or Protestant schools. Education within the two communities is organised separately. Of the 12,000 schools in the region, fewer than 1,000 have a mixed public.
There is little chance that things will change in the immediate future since it is the communities that finance the schools. The Catholic Church runs what private, fee-paying schools. The Protestant Church handed over the running of its schools to the State during the middle of the 19th century and that situation generally continues today.
In the eighties, some « integrated schools » were founded to cater for pupils of both religions.
